Kickoff - 08:15 PM EDT
Who Wins and Why:
I like the Chiefs in this matchup, but I think the Chargers keep it close. Kansas City's offense is led by the best quarterback in the game right now in Patrick Mahomes who looked unstoppable against Arizona's weak secondary on Sunday. This week, the Chiefs high powered offense will be tasked with taking on the Charger's new and improved defense. Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa have already proven to be a lethal duo and there is a possibility that big free agent signee JC Jackson plays his first game for the Chargers tonight. Even if Jackson plays, I see the Chiefs moving the ball on the Chargers. The main reason for this is that the Chargers or anyone else for that matter have yet to get enough of an idea of the Chiefs new multiple offense to effectively game plan for it.
Similar to the Chiefs, the Chargers offense will have no problem at all moving the ball. The biggest problem I see for them is that WR1 Keenan Allen is not playing due to a hamstring injury. This will hurt them in crucial situations when Herbert needs his most reliable weapon. With that being said, I think tonight could set up for a Mike Williams legacy game. With Allen's absence, Williams will get plenty of looks from Justin Herbert against an unproven Chiefs secondary. One point of interest is Williams' track record of success playing against the Chiefs in Arrowhead. In their last four trips to Arrowhead, Williams has totaled 344 yards and 5 touchdowns (averaging 86 yards per game and over a touchdown per game). I love Williams to score tonight and see Herbert going his way early and often
Final Score Prediction: Chiefs 31 Chargers 28
Pick: LAC +4
Over/Under: Over (54)
Bonus Pick: Mike Williams Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+130)
